Digi locker is a flagship project launched by the Government of India in 2015 by incumbent Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi Ji under Ministry of Electronic & Information Technology. A revolutionary step initiated by the Government is a national Digital Locker ,the purpose of which was to help the citizen of the country to enable them to store their valuable documents in a digital format. These documents can be either digitally issued by the Government by its various departments such as - Driving License , Voter Card , PAN Card , Aadhar Card , Registration Certificates of  the vehicles, Passports and Educational Certificates which can be downloaded in the Digi Locker for view and store at one place to use at the point of need. These certificates which are stored in the Digi Locker are acceptable by the Government  Agencies as proof. These certificates can also be shared with any Government Department eliminating production of such documents in physical forms. Not only this those documents which have been issued prior to this arrangement such as relating to Properties , Insurance policies and Educational certificates which have not been issued by the Government in Digital form can be stored in Digi Locker by way of scanning.

Now the question arises as to how much safe it is to store your documents in Digi Locker.

The official website of Government of India states that it is a Digital locker service operated by Government of India to store official documents in the cloud and assures that it is a completely safe with best security features. It only allows users, to access their data and documents.

What prompted the government to launch this scheme

As per policy, the government wants to minimize the use of paper for issue of such documents and avoid wide spread felling of trees for production of papers. Not only this, it will reduce cost on physical production but also delay in their issue . It will save the documents from losing while carrying them physically from one place to another, from theft and fire etc. It will also safeguard the interest of people from fraudulent agencies who can issue fake documents.

                                               ELECTIONS IN INDIA 

It is worthwhile to have interaction at this moment when there is great din of elections in the country . My contact with you on JAGO TE JAGAO is little late because elections upto 6th phase has already been held in the country and now only the last 7th Phase is left where the voters have to exercise their right of franchise on 19th of May 2019. Indian people settled abroad and world community at large is looking towards this festival of democracy in India very keenly and with great interest . The interest of the people is justified because they want to see how the people of India take participation by voting and electing their representatives who will be there Law and foreign policy makers .

My reason of writing about elections is to emphasize all sundry to come out of the cozy four walls of their houses and exercise their right to vote. Though the weather is inclement and severely hot and makes it difficult to venture out for this task but see how our soldiers on the border stand alert in all weathers may be hot, may be cold or rainy to guard us without bothering about their comforts . So taking this small step for your own self and for the sake of country is necessary.

When I call it a right to franchise but at the same time it is the responsibility also to exercise this right of franchise. Right and Responsibility are the two aspects of the same coin. On one side it is the right to choose and on other side it is responsibility to choose. In our country it is perhaps a luxury to vote or not to vote but it will be dishonesty towards a nation not to vote . There are many countries in the world where people are  penalized for not voting. In our country also the voices are coming out where voting is sought to be made compulsory . I hope this position should never come and people should go out and vote. So Jago (get aware) and Jagao ( make people aware).
